Tonya Lewis, Event Manager

Tonya Lewis is the new Event Manager for the Conference Department at the University of Florida Office of Professional and Workforce Development, joining the team in October 2025. She has used her B.S. degree from Old Dominion in Norfolk, VA to further her passion for event planning and travel. After her retirement from American Airlines as a ramp supervisor and Compliance Coordinator, she used her talents to assist in the growth of the Conference Services Department at UF Housing and Residence Life. Tonya’s passion for event planning has allowed her to inspire teams, foster partnerships and deliver seamless events that exceed expectations.

Tonya is eager to pursue her Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) credential. Since she hasn’t been in an educational setting (as a student) in several years, she is giving herself ample time to study and prepare for success. Becoming an active member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) is one way that Tonya feels will assist in her pursuit of the CMP.

Outside of the office, you can find her planning her next family adventure. Their wanderlust for travel has taken them far and wide to many of the world’s beautiful beaches. Tonya hopes to one day visit Reykjavik, Iceland to see the Northern Lights and the Blue Lagoon.
